Raffaele Dellaca’

Raffaele Dellaca’ received the Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2001 at Politecnico di Milano University. He is professor of biomedical electronics for the master program of Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico and responsible for the Technologies for Respiration (TechRes) Laboratory (www.techres.polimi.it).

Dr. Dellacà was awarded Fellow of the European Respiratory Society (2005) and Raine Visiting Professor at University of Western Australia (2016). His main research interests are in the area of the bioengineering of the respiratory system, in particular on respiratory physiology and mechanics, modelling of respiratory system mechanical properties, and development of new technologies for the analysis of respiration, mechanical ventilation and anaesthesia in adults and newborns.

He is PI, co-PI or collaborating to several research projects sponsored by public agencies, private foundations and biomedical device producers. He co-authored more than 130 papers published on international peer-reviewed journals and is co-inventor of more than 16 patents licensed to producers of mechanical ventilators or other medical devices. He is also co-funder of Restech srl, Spin-off company from Politecnico di Milano developing and producing innovative devices for lung function test.
