Aparna Hoskote

Dr Aparna Hoskote is a Paediatric Cardiac Intensivist in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust since 2004, and Honorary Associate Professor, UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science, London, UK since 2021. She is the Specialty Lead for the cardiac ICU, which is a quaternary referral centre for children with congenital heart disease and a nationally commissioned centre for ECMO, mechanical circulatory support with ventricular assist devices, cardiothoracic transplantation, primary pulmonary hypertension and tracheal disease. Alongside a strong commitment to exemplary clinical care, clinical governance and quality improvement, international collaboration, she has focussed on outcomes research particularly related to neurological outcomes in children supported on extracorporeal life support including ventricular assist devices.

Dr Hoskote is the chair of the Cardiac ICU & Mechanical Circulatory Support Section in the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC). She is the co-chair of the ELSO Scientific Oversight Committee, chair of the EuroELSO Working Group on Neurological Monitoring and Outcome, and the deputy chair of the EuroELSO Scientific Committee. Within the ESPNIC, she aims to engage and empower like-minded intensivists and nursing and allied professionals in the promotion of cardiac intensive care ensuring the best possible outcomes for neonates, infants, and children with congenital or acquired cardiac disease by establishing a strong, sustainable and effective platform for Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care in Europe and worldwide.
